CEU University in Barcelona is one of three universities run by the San Pablo
CEU Foundation is based on the principles of the Catholic Association of Propagandists.
Since it was founded, the aspiration of the University, and the efforts of
those who are part of it, is the education of a university community, in the
fullest sense of the word: a learning community that is capable of providing
society with professionals who have achieved academic excellence and who are committed
to working for the common good and the search for truth.
University institutions are undergoing change and need to adapt their planning and resources to the requirements of the European Space for Higher Education. This challenge has been taken on by Abat Oliba CEU University, which, since it was founded in 2004, has aimed to anticipate the incorporation of new requirements arising from the introduction of new degree courses:
The continuous contact between teaching staff and students via the Web, work systems and continuous assessment, and the introduction of innovative teaching methodologies have all been a reality at the University for a number of years.
This has not prevented us from emphasizing the efforts we have made in those areas that have always been features of CEU university institutions.
In particular, we have aimed to ensure that tutorials have their own criteria as instruments of academic orientation and in-depth intellectual training of students in an all-embracing sense. Teaching staff have continued to carry out their research projects in our institutes and university chairs or in collaboration with other universities in Spain and overseas.
At the same time, we are well aware what society’s demands are for its new professionals and our Employment Observatory carries out periodic studies into the changes in this area. For this reason, our students have the opportunity to carry out work placement in some of Barcelona’s most prestigious companies, offices and institutions, with the backing of a university that has an international presence by way of agreements that enable students to study part of their courses at universities in other parts of Europe or in North America.
Abat Oliba CEU University does not limit itself, however, to offering academic excellence. It also provides students with the opportunity to receive an invaluable and comprehensive education that prepares them to use their own judgment to face personal and professional challenges.
